KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 5
Ambar Arbud Sewa, in collaboration with Meta Healthcare Nepal, United Imaging Healthcare, and Longevous BeamTech Co Ltd establishes the country's first cyclotron facility in Dhading.
According to Biomedical Engineer Hari Ram Dawadi, it should be operational within nine months. This initiative will lead to important advances in cancer detection and treatment.
'For years, Nepali patients have had to rely on imported medical isotopes for critical diagnostic procedures like PET scans,' he said. 'These scans help detect cancer early, significantly improving the chances of successful treatment. The new cyclotron facility will produce medical isotopes locally, making cancer diagnostics more accessible.'
This project will improve access to advanced medical imaging while also paving the way for future research and innovation in nuclear medicine. With cancer becoming a growing concern, timely diagnosis is critical for saving lives, he added.
'By establishing this facility, we are ensuring that patients no longer face delays or need to travel abroad for essential scans,' he said. 'The impact will be felt across hospitals and medical institutions, benefiting countless patients and their families.'
