A rapid assessment report presented to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday warns of serious violations of children's rights and a growing trust deficit between young people and state institutions following the recent Gen Z–led protests.

The report-prepared by Save the Children Nepal, the CZOP-National Campaign, and 13 child rights organizations-highlights urgent needs for medical care, psychosocial support, safety measures, legal aid, and educational services for affected children.

'We call on the government and stakeholders to ensure accountability, end the unwarranted use of force, provide mental health support, and launch an independent inquiry into the protest violence,' said Tara Chettry, Country Director of Save the Children Nepal.

CZOP Chairperson Tilottam Paudel described the reported deaths and injuries as 'an unacceptable breach of Nepal's obligations under international and national law and the state's duty to protect children.'

The report was formally handed to NHRC Chairperson Tapta Bahadur Magar, urging swift action to address the violations and foster peacebuilding and conflict-transformation efforts.
