LOS ANGELES: Jade Ewen says joining the Sugababes saved her floundering pop career from drifting into obscurity. Jade Ewen admits the Sugababes saved her career. The 21-year-old singer - who joined the ever-changing girl band last year after Keisha Buchanan was ousted from the group - admitted her pop star ambitions were floundering before she got the opportunity. She said: "I did wonder what I would be getting into, yes. My career wasn't exactly taking off, was it? I needed an opportunity." Before joining the trio - also comprised of Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - Jade had been a struggling solo singer, despite representing Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest. Heidi admits she and Amelle didn't know much about Jade before she was drafted into the girl group. She said: "We'd heard of Jade, of course, and we knew that she had this fantastic voice... but we'd never met the girl before, so we didn't really know her."
