NEPALGUNJ: A youth was murdered in broad daylight at a bustling marketplace in Nepalgunj on Monday afternoon. According to District Police Office Banke Chief SP Basanta Panta, Chetan Manandhar, 28, of Nepalgunj, died after a group loyal to a don in Nepalgunj Rigal Dhakal beat him black and blue and struck him with sharp weapons at Dhamboji bazaar in Nepalgunj. Manandhar was attacked on his neck while his one arm got split while trying to block the attack. A critically injured Manandhar died while undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College due to excessive bleeding. Police have nabbed Prashanta Gautam, Nawaraj Khatri, Bishal Basnet, Mohan Khadka, and Keshav Rokaya for their involvement in the crime. “At least two domestic sharp weapons and a khukuri have been seized from the gang,” said District Police Office. According to SP Panta, the a manhunt has been launched for Rigal Dhakal, Sohan Singh and Madhav Pariyar. The trio is said to have masterminded the crime. Police also said that Manandhar was previously a member of Dhakal’s gang earlier, but they had split over a dispute. Contraband seized HETAUDA: Makawanpur Police held two persons in possession of contraband from Hetauda on Sunday evening. They have been identified as Prabin Kumar Yadav, 22, of Dharahari VDC, Rautahat and Dhiraj Basnet, 23, of Hetauda. Security personnel confiscated 5 bottles of 100 ml corex, 20 pieces of nitrogepam tablets and 77 nitrovet tablets from Yadav’s room during a raid. Both have been kept at District Police Office Makawanpur for necessary investigation. Meanwhile, Makawanpur Police has taken control of a van with eight kg marijuana. Police seized the contraband during regular security checking. The vehicle was en route to Hetauda from Manahari. As the passengers came out of the vehicle and fled during checking, security personnel are searching for those involved.
