2 held with illegal gold at TIA

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two persons with possession of undeclared gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in the Capital on Wednesday. A man has been apprehended with possession of 875 gram illegal gold from the TIA on Wednesday. Police identified the suspect as Ram Chandra Thanet (23) of Narayani-9, Nawalpur, bearing passport no. 05887243. Thanet, who landed at the TIA from Dubai on a Qatar airway flight, had concealed the yellow metal inside a DVD player. He was nabbed during a customs check at the TIA, police said. Similarly, police arrested Dilli Ram Basyal (24), bearing passport number 0852444, of Betulibas-9 of Partbat with 758 gram undeclared gold yesterday. Police said that Basyal, who landed at the TIA from Dubai on a Fly Dubai flight, had also concealed the precious yellow metal inside the DVD player. Basyal too was nabbed during a customs check at the TIA. Police said that they are looking into both cases.
