KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat directed secretaries of the government to sufficiently spend the allocated budget. Inviting secretaries of all ministries and government bodies at the Ministry of Finance on Friday, the Minister urged them to make the Budget Implementation Year a success. Mahat was of the view that the ministries do not have any problem to spend the budget now as they were given the authority to make expenses on July 16 itself, the first day of the new fiscal year. 'Current session of the Parliament will also endorse the Public Procurement Bill,' Mahat said, 'No pretext works now to delay the budget spending.' He also claimed that many other bills related to financial reform have been registered at the Parliament. 'From all perspectives,' the Minister said, 'There is an environment conducive to implement the budget plan at the earliest.' Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission Govinda Prasad Pokharel and Finance Secretary Suman Prasad Sharma had also spoken at the function.
