China welcomes CA endorsement

Kathmandu, September 17 China today shared its happiness over the endorsement of the new constitution by the Constituent Assembly. “As a friendly neighbor, the Chinese side notes with pleasure that the Constituent Assembly endorsed the new constitution,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Hong Lei, said in a regular press briefing in Beijing today. “We support and respect Nepal’s independent choice of social system and development path, and wish for political stability and economic development in Nepal,” he added. Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai today called on Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and conveyed Chinese government’s official endorsement of the new statue. He also said China always wishes to see peace and stability in Nepal and expressed his confidence that the new charter would ensure it, according to a source close to the prime minister.
