Bajura CDO reaches out to remote villagers

By Prakash Singh

BAJURA: For the first time in history, a Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bajura district has reached two most remote villages of Rugin and Bichhanya. CDO Ghan Prasad Sharma Paudel recently visited the villages in order to check if people are well-receiving government services. A total of 42 CDOs have taken charge of the district since early 1970s, but before Paudel, no one had ever visited these VDCs, said Jayabir Kattel, Kharidar (a non-gazetted second class officer) of the District Administration Office. The VDCs, which are four-day walks from the district headquarters, Martadi, are still deprived of basic facilities. Road and communication facilities remain a far cry for the remote villagers. Paudel stated that he made the visit after receiving reports of people in the area being deprived of basic necessities like rice, salt, education and health services. During interactions with people, he shared his intentions to understand the actual situation of the district. Around 4,000 locals of the area were elated from his visit and gave him a warm welcome with garlands.
