Birgunj, September 30 A free food camp for the poor has kicked off in Birgunj from today. The campaign is run by a local community of Birgunj youths at Maisthan from 10:00am to 10:00pm everyday, targeting the poor who have been hit hard due to the bandh enforced by Madhes-based parties. According to camp organiser Sandip Sarraf, the camp provides free food to daily wage labourers like rickshaw drivers, cart-pullers and villagers participating in the agitation. “The camp, organised with the support of locals, will run till the agitation lasts,” he said. With agitating parties staging sit-in at border points and demonstrating at marketplaces, daily-wage workers as well as businesspersons have been at the receiving end.
