Kathmandu, October 14 Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal and UNDP Nepal jointly organised a three-day application development competition. The competition was organised from October 9-11 where 80 participants selected from a pool of 4,000 applicants had to develop an application that could aid the reconstruction process in Nepal in the three-day residential competition. According to the statement issued here today by The British College, one of the participants, the top prize went to a team of three students from CAICAS, while team Code Nepal from The British College emerged the first runner-up. Students from ASCOL emerged the second runner-up. It said the top teams were chosen by a team of independent jury on the basis of the idea of the application, its implementation, presentation and team participation. It further said that the team from The British College comprised Milan Khanal, Raghav Sharma, Gaurav Shrestha and Abhijeet Sah. The students had to co-collaborate and code, and translate their innovative ideas into reality through the application and present them to the jury. Team CAICAS had developed an application streamlining ordering process for temporary homes. Team Code Nepal from The British College developed an application named V-HUB, a social hub to connect volunteers and organizations. The winning team was awarded Rs 200,000, while the first and second runners up took home Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
