DANG: Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on Saturday said that the largest political party Nepali Congress should not stay in opposition at a time when Nepal is taking an important responsibility of implementing the new Constitution. He also requested the NC to participate in the government as unity is essential for proper implementation of the Constitution. 'The main issue of the hour is to implement the Constitution. Nepali Congress should not sit in opposition in such an important time. It must join the government, correcting its past,' said the former PM. Nepal was speaking at a press conference organised by the Dang chapter of Press Chautari Nepal in Ghorahi of Dang. Claiming that the NC lost its faith by breaching a past agreement with other parties, he suggested the NC to move ahead evaluating its past. Nepal, however, said that he had proposed the NC to play a constructive role, if it stays in the opposition after his repeated calls to NC to participate in the government remained unheard. He said that he hopes that NC would help the government, even from the opposition. On a different context, Nepal viewed that India should correct its policy towards interfering internal affairs of Nepal for sustainable friendship between both Nepal and India. He said that Nepal always wants to see India as a good neighbour, retaining the age-old relations between both the countries. 'We want to spread a message of unity with India. We do not want to hurt India anymore. All misunderstandings will be cleared between Nepal and India once the unofficial blockade by India is lifted,' he said.
