Chhath festival concludes

BARDIBAS: This year’s Chhath celebrations concluded in Biratnagar, Mahottari and different districts of Mithila region by offering argha to the rising sun this morning. The devotees presented offerings, worshipped the statue of Chhati Mai on the banks of rivers and ponds and lit oil lamps. Likewise, a large number of devotees thronged to pay homage to the statue in different parts of the region. The devotees who were having consecrated meal after cleansing themselves on Sunday, the day of Kartik Shukla Chauthi, offered argha to the rising sun on the banks of rivers and ponds after taking a holy bath today. The Chhath festival is celebrated from Shukla Chaturthi to Saptami in the month of Kartik as per the Nepali calendar. After the conclusion of the Chhath celebrations, the devotees are offering Thakuwa, Bhusuwa, coconut, banana and other sweet dishes as Prasad to the relatives and neighbours. The devotees have said that they wished for the peaceful environment in the country by ending the ongoing violent situation.
