SARLAHI, FEBRUARY 4
One person was killed and three others injured when a car met with an accident in Banke Jungle of Sarlahi along the East–West Highway early Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred at around 2:20 am at the third bend of Banke Jungle in Ishworpur Municipality–12 after the car crashed into a road diversion. The vehicle, bearing registration number Lu 3 Cha 5472, was travelling towards Butwal from Kakarbhitta when it reportedly went out of control.
Police said a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Jayakarn Yadav from the Phuljor Area Police Post was deployed to the site immediately after receiving information about the accident.
The injured were identified as 48-year-old Brijkishor Verma, 27-year-old Shubham Jaiswal, 52-year-old Sanjay Jaiswal, and the driver, 23-year-old Sahil Verma, all residents of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City–1 in Rupandehi. They were rescued and taken to Shubhaswastik Hospital in Bardibas for treatment, according to Sarlahi Police spokesperson and DSP Saroj Rai.
DSP Rai said Sahil Verma, who was critically injured, died at around 4:10 am during treatment. The condition of the other three injured is reported to be out of danger.
The damaged vehicle remains at the accident site, and efforts are underway to bring it to the Area Police Office in Bardibas.
Police said preliminary investigation suggests overspeeding caused the accident, and further investigation is ongoing.
