JANAKPURDHAM: Tension ran high in Janakpur of Dhanusha district on Sunday afternoon after police and cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front chased each other away. After the UDMF cadres staged a rally at local Janak Chok, protesting the police intervention in Jogbani protest yesterday injuring Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, police had tried to stop the protests. The cadres, however, did not obey police; instead resorted to attack them with stones. In retaliation, police also lobbed dozens of tear gas shells and opened blank fires. The clashes, however, are still going unabated.
