Singapore, August 15:
The United States and a dozen other nations on Monday launched maritime exercises aimed at stopping shipments of weapons of mass destruction, with Singapore’s defence minister warning such powerful arms are attractive to terrorists. The drills are part of the US-sponsored Proliferation Security Initiative to block the transfer of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, as well as missiles that can carry them and materials and equipment needed to make them.
