KATHMANDU: Minister for Labour and Employment Deepak Bohara has ruled out the possibility of sending women for foreign jobs in the present situation, on Tuesday. Addressing an interaction programme on the guidelines relating to sending domestic help abroad, Minister Bohara said he would not allow sending women workers for foreign employment until their security was guaranteed. 'Every day, Nepali women are being stranded in foreign land, subjected to physical and mental abuses, and have to stay unpaid for months, making the news headlines. So, now onward women would not be allowed to work abroad until clear criteria are made regarding their safety, remuneration and other facilities in the destination country,' he underscored. On the occasion, Secretary at the Labour Ministry, Bishnu Lamsal, argued that foreign employment is being a means for human smuggling and demanded immediate action to address such problem. Metropolitan Police Crime Division Chief Senior Superintendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal stressed to rescue the Nepali women workers in troubles, and other initiatives to follow. Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies' Secretary General Rohan Gurung suggested signing an agreement with the destination country before sending women there.
