KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Sunday issued a show cause notice in the name of government to furnish reasons why spellings of some Nepali words were changed in school curricula. A single bench of Justice Jagadish Sharma Paudel issued a order in response to a writ filed by advocate Bhadra Prasad (Swagat) Nepal and journalist Tapendra Bahadur Karki. The defendants including the Ministry of Education and the Curriculum Development Centre have been asked to furnish the reasons, according to SC Co-spokesperson Bishwaraj Paudel. Meanwhile, the Court summoned both parties for the detailed hearning on coming Sunday, September 18. The duo had filed the writ on Friday, demanding that the court scrap the decision to change spellings with a certiorari.
