RAUTAHAT, MAY 18
A motorcyclist died and two children were injured in a road accident at Basantapatti Chowk along the Hulaki Highway in Paroha Municipality-6, Rautahat, on Sunday afternoon.
According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the motorcycle (Madhesh Province 05-001-P-0188) heading from Kopwa towards Fatuwa went out of control and crashed at around 1:00 pm, leaving three persons injured.
The rider, 22-year-old Mukesh Mukhiya of Baragadhi Rural Municipality-3, Bara, sustained serious head and facial injuries. He was rushed to Metro City Hospital in Birgunj, where doctors pronounced him dead at around 3:00 pm, said Rautahat Police Chief Sitaram Rijal.
Two children riding pillion, 10-year-old Shivji Mukhiya and 8-year-old Sujit Mukhiya of Rajpur Municipality-2, Rautahat, were injured in the incident. Police said both are in moderate condition and undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, while the deceased's body has been kept at the hospital.
