BHAKTAPUR: A person died after a scooter he was riding on collided head-on with a tipper in Bhaktapur on Thursday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Khaiju (26) of Jhaukhel, Changu Narayan Municipality in the district. The tipper (Ba 1 Ka 3559) was heading towards Byasi from Kamal Binayak when the collision took place, critically injuring Khaiju at around 3:00 pm yesterday, according to the Bhaktapur Metropolitan Police Range. Khaiju was rushed to the Sallaghari-based Dr Iwamura Memorial Hospital at Muldhoka where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment, at around 3:50 pm yesterday, informed DSP Krishna Prasain. Meanwhile, police have impounded both the vehicles and taken the four-wheeler driver Hari Krishna Basi (51) for further investigation. (With inputs from Rastriya Samachar Samiti)
