Pakistan committed to hosting SAARC summit: Envoy

Kathmandu, October 27 Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed stressed on holding the 19th SAARC summit as soon as possible. Speaking at a discussion programme titled ‘Regional Peace and Development’ organised at the Pakistani embassy here today, the envoy said the Pakistani government was committed to hosting the SAARC summit. He also stated that it was a shared responsibility of all SAARC member states to make this regional forum more active. The envoy emphasised on trade promotion, mutual relations and increased connectivity across the region for lasting peace and progress in South Asia. Nepal, as current chair of SAARC, should take initiatives for hosting of the 19th SAARC summit scheduled to be held in Pakistan, said former Nepali diplomat Bishnu Hari Nepal.
