BAJURA: After the news about the plight of Bajura kids was published in The Himalayan Times, SOS Children's Villages Nepal in Bhaktapur decided to provide shelter and education to the five siblings, who had been left without their parents' care. According to SOS Children's Villages Nepal Director Sitaram Subedi, the children have been brought to the centre for care and education. Padam Hamal, Chief at SOS Children's Villages Nepal, Dhangadhi said, 'News story covered by The Himalayan Times about the arduous lives of the kids caught our attention. We went to the village and rescued the five siblings.' Before that, we were not aware of the situation of the kids in the remote village of Bajura district. Badimalika Municipality Mayor Padam Baduwal said, 'Rs 500,000 generated in funds for the kids in Nepal and abroad has been deposited in the names of the kids in a saving account in Rastriya Banijya Bank, Bajura branch.' Social activist Isha Gurung residing in London had launched a worldwide campaign in support of the kids. Likewise, Bajura parliamentarian Lal Bahadur Thapa, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Ram Kumari Jhakri have assured of providing necessary help to the kids in the future. Earlier, the kids were compelled to live difficult lives in their remote village after the demise of their father from cancer, following which their mother also eloped with another man and abandoned them.
