KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari -- who is presently in Poland, leading the high-level Nepali delegation to COP24, the UN Climate Change Summit -- had a bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda in Katowice.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of cordiality and friendship. The two leaders discussed ways and means of further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement.

They also discussed the issue of climate change and its impact on vulnerable countries in particular, and need of support from countries that have the knowledge, technology and resources for mitigation and adaptation in developing countries.

The President later briefly met with representatives of different Nepali organisations currently present in Katowice for the COP24.

Minister for Forests and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet, expert at the Office of the President Sushil Raj Pyakurel and other members of the delegation were also present on both the occasions.
