Biratnagar Airport envisioned as regional international airport

BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai has opined for the acquisition of land to develop Biratnagar Airport into a regional international airport.

While inaugurating the programme to mark the 20th anniversary of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal here today, CM Rai stated that 250 bigha of land had to be  acquired to extend the airport runway.

He also shared that decision to this effect would be taken after holding discussions with the Prime Minister and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation next week.

CM Rai further also stressed the need to expand flight services to and from the airport.
