Khotang, October 1 Khotang CDO Bishnuhari Upadhyay today provided financial assistance to mentally-challenged Surya Prakash Rai, 12, of Lafyang in Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-5. Rai was admitted to the district hospital after he suffered burn injury. He had burnt his left knee when he fell into a hearth. A committee formed to collect donation for the support of impoverished Rai had collected Rs 114,448. CDO Upadhaya had handed over the money to the child’s father Kundan Rai today. Surya Prakash was admitted to the district hospital after he suffered burn injury one-and-a-half months ago. By birth, Rai is a patient of cerebral palsy. Due to this incurable disease, the child has fallen into hearth many times. Rai has difficulty both walking and talking. His father Kundan works as a garbage collector at the municipality office. Since his mother married another man, Rai has been living with his father and step-mother.
