Detainees flee custody

BARA: Two detainees at Area Police Office, Simara, Har Dev Sahani, 24 and Manoj Patel, 20, who were arrested on charge of stealing telephone wires, fled from police custody on Thursday. They fled by smashing the windowpane of the bathroom, police said. The duo was arrested five days ago from Simara along with stolen wires. Police head constable Baikuntha Dhakal and constable Kush Bahadur Basnet of the APO, who were responsible to guard the duo, have been taken into custody for investigation, police said. — HNS

Maoists close ‘courts’

HETAUDA: Maoists on Thursday closed down the People’s court following a request from a team of representatives of human rights organisations. The team had met local Maoist leaders including Maoist Lalitpur-Makwanpur People’s Government Chief, Bhim Pakhrin, on Wednesday and urged the Maoists to close down the court. — HNS
