Police fire in air to control gang fight

Pokhara, October 23:

Police resorted to blank firing to bring under control a fight between two armed groups in Pokhara last night.

Police fired a shot in the air to control the fighting between groups of youth from the Bajhopatan and Laligurans toles at Laligurans tole.

Police fired the shot as the fighting youths, armed with swords, khukuris and bottles, started attacking them, Ward Police Office Inspector, Binod Ghimire, said.

Khagendra Gurung, who was injured in the incident, has been arrested. He underwent treatment at the western regional hospital, Pokhara, police said, adding that Gaurav Gurung, Bikram Pun, Subas Gurung and Binod Bhandari have also been arrested.

The police seized four swords, a long knife and seven motorbikes from the site.
