Transport body to pay their dues within 35 days
Lalitpur, January 21:
Agitating former employees of the Sajha Yatayat called off their sit-in today after getting assurance from
the Sajha management that the state-owned transport body will pay the former employees their dues within 35 days.
“We called off our protest today after the executive director of the Sajha Yatayat agreed to provide us our dues within 35 days,” said Hom Nath Sharma, one of the leaders of the struggle committee. The former employees had been blocking the movement of Sajha buses by staging a round-the-clock sit-in at the main gate of the state-owned transport body for 55 days.
The assurance came at the end of a meeting held at the Lalitpur District Administration Office between executive director of the Sajha, Mukunda Raj Satyal, Chief District Officer of Lalitpur Ananda Raj Pokhrel and representatives of the Trade Unions affiliated to the eight parties. The two-day meeting concluded today. “Leaders of the trade unions affiliated to the eight parties said they will help us get our dues back within the stipulated time,” Sharma added.
Mukunda Raj Satyal said he has committed to providing compensation of 14 months and 18 days to the employees. The Sajha Yatayat remained closed during that period. He said the government was responsible for closing the state-run transport body.
“We will make the agitating former employees clear about how the Sajha will provide them their dues after discussing the matter at a meeting of the Sajha board,” he said adding that the Sajha buses will ply after maintenance of buses that were grounded for 55 days.
