Himalayan Bank, Malaysian firm ink accord

Kathmandu, April 22:

Himalayan Bank Ltd (HBL) has reached an agreement with a Malaysian company e-Kenacana Sdn Bhd to transfer remittance from Malaysia.

As per the agreement, Nepalis living and working in Malaysia could directly transfer their money to Nepal via HBL’s branches and its agents using the Malaysian company’s channel, states a press release issued here by the bank today.

Ashok Shumshere Rana, chief executive officer of HBL today launched the service in Kula Lumpur. He said that the bank would continue to introduce new value addition in remittance transfer service.

Rana also informed that HBL would expand its network internationally and domestically to reach more people. According to the agreement, Nepalis working in Malaysia can directly transfer their money through e-Kenacana’s authorised agent Secure Union Money Transfer to Nepal in HBL’s account. “Secure Union Money Transfer has seven branches in different cities of Malaysia,” further adds the press release.

The e-Kenacana is licensed by the Malaysian central bank -Bank Negara to run e-purse scheme and money transfer business in Malaysia. Himalaya bank is one of the reputed banks in Nepal.
