Tribute to martyr

LALITPUR: Martyr Memorial Committee on Thursday paid floral tributes to martyr Shukra Raj Shastri at Pulchowk to mark the 67th Martyr Week. Shukra Raj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand and Ganga Lal Shrestha attained martyrdom during the autocratic Rana regime in 1997 BS on the charge of leading a democratic movement. Martyr Shukra Raj Shastri was hanged at Teku of Kathmandu. — RSS

Talks inconclusive

KATHMANDU: The second round of talks between the parents of students studying MBBS in China and the government representatives ended inconclusively. The parents demanded the government allow these students to do their internship in Nepali hospitals. Pushpa Ratna Shakya, who led the group of agitating parents, said, “It is more practical for students to do their internship in Nepal. That would be beneficial for the government as well as for our community.” — HNS
