Govt offices in Syangja shut

Syangja, January 25:
Protesting the abduction and murder of their colleagues, employees of Syangja district-based government offices closed the offices today.
The offices were closed from 11:00 am at the call of Nepal Civil Servants’ Organisation (NCSO), Employees’ Union (EU), National Employees’ Organisation (NEO) and Local Bodies’ Employees’ Association (LBEA). The employees’ organised a protest meeting at the district administration office.
President of the NCSO Khem Narayan Adhikari, Tara Chandra Dhakal of LBEA and Bishnu Bahadur Parajuli of the Agriculture Development Bank demanded that the government guarantee security of the employees, pay adequate compensation and provide jobs, education and health services for family members of civil servants slain by various outfits, recognise the slain civil servants as martyrs and punish the murderers. They threatened to launch an agitation and paralyse the nation if their demands are not met.
