Nepal lose again
KATHMANDU: The U-19 Nepali team lost their third match against the hosts Bangladesh by three wickets on Monday. Nepal lost their first match while the second was washed out. Nepal were all out for 109 runs 38.1 overs. Puspa Thapa scored 25 and skipper Paras Khadka made 17. Ruwal Hussain and Sarawadi claimed three wickets each for the hosts. In reply, the hosts overcame the target for the loss of seven wickets in 36 overs. Mithun Ali scored 30 and Md Hussain 19. Rahul BK took three and Avay Rana two wickets for Nepal. Nepali team is touring Bangladesh as part of their preparation for the ICC U-19 World Cup to be held in Malaysia from February 10. — HNS
KCC enter semis
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu City Club crushed Bhagwati Club 5-0 to make it to the semi-finals of the seventh Sano Gaucharan Knockout Football Tournament here on Monday. Anil Gurung struck twice while Nirajan Rayamajhi, Nirajan Khadka and Basanta Gauchan scored a goal each for Kathmandu City.— HNS
SEB Volleyball
KATHMANDU: Samakhusi English Boarding (SEB) School is organising the third SEB Inter-school Volleyball Tournament from January 31 to February 3. In all, eight teams each in boys’ and girls’ section will compete for the championship, said the SEB principal Yuvaraj Thapa. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council, in coordination with the Education and Sports ministry, is organising the Inter-regional National school-level Athletics and Volleyball Tournament on February 4-6. Athletics include 13 events each in boys and girls’ section — 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put and javalin throw. Volleyball also include events in both the boys and girls’ section. — HNS

MAHENDRA NAGAR: Ilam beat Kanchanpur ‘Blue’ 2-1 to enter the semi-finals of the 10th National Women’s Football Tournament on Monday. Pappu Das and Sanrachana Pradhan sco-red for Ilam while Radhika Bhandari replied for Kanchanpur. In other matches, Banke beat Moran 3-2 and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club hammered Jhapa 9-0. Niru Thapa scored twice and Sumitra Lamichhane added another for APF while Kavita Dhimal and Indira Rai converted for Morang. Anu Lama sco-red four, Parmila Rai and Ganga Gurung two apiece and Laxmi Poudel one in APF’s goal feast. — HNS
