The delegation of Inter-Parliamentary Union of the United Kingdom today

said discussion on human rights issues was one of the major features of their stay in Nepal.

Addressing mediapersons at the Tribhuvan International Airport before their trip back home, Sir John Stanely, leader of the delegation, said they had an extensive discussion with chairman Kedar Nath Upadhyay and commissioners of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on wide range of human rights issues, including the extent to which the government was implementing the NHRC’s decision and working on women’s rights and trafficking of women and children.”We look forward to hearing, later this year, about the government’s support for the renewal of the mandate of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights-Nepal,” he said, adding, “We welcome the assurance given by PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal that the government was committed to multi-party democracy.”
