New DFID chief takes charge today

Kathmandu: Sarah Sanyahumbi, the new head of Department for International Development Nepal, is scheduled to take charge on May 11. According to a press statement issued by DFID Nepal, Sarah has over 15 years experience in development field, primarily in Asia. She has worked in India, Indonesia, Brussels and Bangladesh as Deputy Head of Office where she oversaw the development and implementation of development programmes worth over 200 million pounds. She recently completed Master's in Public Service Management from the University of Birmingham. She will oversee 172 million pound DFID Nepal programme for the next three years. On her arrival, Sarah said, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to live and work in Nepal for the next three years. The UK has a strong relationship with Nepal, and we have recently agreed upon a new country plan, which I am sure will make significant difference to the lives of poor people in this country."
