Valley Public triumph KATHMANDU: Valley Public won two matches to enter the girls' section quarter-finals of the first Clinton International Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Samikshin Bista was the architect on both the occasions as Valley Public advanced as the Group B winners. Bista scored 26 points as Valley Public outplayed Triyog 36-14, while she netted 25 points in their 35-4 thrashing over Gillette. Also, hosts Clinton beat Mahendra Bhawan 24-12 and Trungram International Academy registered a 25-6 win over the same opponents. In boy's section matches, Triyog beat Angel Hearts 32-10, TIA beat New Zenith 34-23, Gyan Nikenta beat Reliance 27-20, Kathmandu Valley beat Neighbourwood 40-18, Green Land beat Gyan Jyoti 29-12 and Golden Peak beat Himalayan 25-13. — HNS

BSAM champions BHAKTAPUR: Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya (BSAM) won the first President Running Shield Bhaktapur Districtwide Inter-school Championship with 64 points. SOS came second with 28 points. On Saturday, BSAM defeated Bhaktapur English School 2-0 in the football tournament final. Bhaktapur CDO Kamal Mani Kafle gave away prizes to the winners. Athletics (boys and girls) and boys' volleyball and football were included in the week-long event organised by Bhaktapur District Sports Development Committee. — HNS
