PM’s directives KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Saturday directed concerned authorities for bolstering treatment and providing additional treatment facilities, relief packages and awareness programmes in the areas affected by diarrhoea epidemic. A press statement issued by National Health, Education, Information and Communication Centre said that the PM also sought coordination among different sectors of the community for tiding over the works at the local level. The statement also said that the PM asked for supplying required medicines to households of the affected districts. Babban joins TMDP KATHMANDU: Independent Constituent Assembly member Babban Singh joined the Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party on Saturday. TMDP Chairman Mahanta Thakur welcomed Singh during a programme at the party office in Bijuli Bazaar, Kathmandu. Singh was elected to the CA from Rautahat district. With Singh’s arrival, the number of TMDP lawmakers has reached 22. Singh said he had joined the party to work for the welfare of the Madhesi people. Limbuwan bandh Itahari: Normal life in nine eastern districts was badly affected on Saturday due to the bandh called by Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajyaparisad (Revolutionary), an ethnic group active in the eastern hilly districts. The activists have been demanding declaration of the districts that lie in the east from the Arun River as an “autonomous Limbuwan state”. During the bandh, the Limbuwan cadres vandalised an ambulance belonging to the Maoist combatants in Itahari. The ambulance was heading to Biratnagar with a pregnant Maoist fighter of Chulachuli camp of Ilam district.
