The all new Gusto

Kathmandu

One of Mahindra’s best–selling scooters, Gusto will soon be launched with a 125 cc engine option also. Agni Moto Inc (AMI), authorised distributor of Mahindra Two-wheelers, is planning to introduce the Gusto 125 cc in the Nepali market as soon as Tarai unrest is resolved.

“Nepal is supposed to be the first country to launch this premium scooter even before its launch in India,” shared

Sijan Neupane, Assistant Manager – Marketing Department at Agni Incorporated. However, he informed, it may be launched first in Sri Lanka if the situation in Nepal does not improve within a couple of weeks.

“With the success of its preceding model, we are optimistic about this model too,” said Neupane, adding that however, the market will largely depend on the socio-political condition of the country. According to him, Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125 are competitors for the scooter in the domestic market. The scooter will be priced between Rs 190,000 to Rs 200,000.

Powered by a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, Gusto delivers eight to 10 bhp of power and nine to 10 Nm of peak torque. This is a Z-Series engine developed by Mahindra and has a lot more torque and power than the 110cc. The Gusto 125 is more powerful and offers better pickup for those who ride even on highways. The Gusto already gets a range of features that are not seen on any other scooters like flip key and more importantly seat height adjustment.

The Gusto 125 will feature minor visual changes compared to the Gusto 110.

The new flagship automatic scooter from Mahindra will not be much different from the existing 110 cc variant except for a few nips and tucks on the front apron. The first-in-class features that the Gusto offers such as the height adjustable seat and immobiliser with remote smart key will be inherited by its larger engined derivative. The Gusto 125 cc will come equipped with alloy wheels and front disc brake. One can also expect digital instrument console.

Mahindra already has two 125 cc automatic scooters in its portfolio namely the Rodeo and Duro both of which were inherited from SYM. With Gusto 125, Mahindra is the only two-wheeler maker in India to have three 125 cc scooters in its portfolio. Expect the new flagship Mahindra scooter to be first launched from Nepal only.
