SARLAHI, DECEMBER 14

Police have destroyed around 18,500 cannabis plants illegally cultivated across approximately three and a half bighas of land in the northern Chure region of Sarlahi.

According to the District Police Office, a joint security team from the Area Police Office, Kesharganj, and Armed Police Force Nepal No. 10 Battalion carried out the operation in Pipal Damar and the surrounding areas of Ishworpur Municipality–12.

DSP Saroj Rai, information officer at the District Police Office, said the operation was conducted following information that commercial-scale cannabis farming was being carried out in the area. The plants, which were nearing harvest, were uprooted and destroyed.
