Kathmandu, February 4

The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) has so far provided Nepal Standard (NS) certification to 369 products manufactured by 250 different industries at home and abroad.

Twenty-five goods produced by 71 cement factories, 25 goods from 25 steel bar factories, 23 products from 23 PVC cable companies, 10 products from 10 LPG bottlers, 13 products from 12 PVC pipe factories and 29 goods from 29 HTPD pipe firms, among others have been granted the NS mark as those goods met the criteria set by the NBSM.

The NBSM started awarding NS mark to products manufactured abroad since last year. Towards this end, 14 goods manufactured by nine companies in India and one good manufactured in China have received the NS certification, as per Director General of NBSM Bishwobabu Pudasaini.

Pudasaini shared that an applicant is entitled to get a recognition of Nepal Standard for any material, product or service provided they meet the set criteria. According to him, some industries whose products had been granted the NS mark in the past had not renewed their licences.

So far, 19 goods manufactured by 16 companies have been granted NS mark as of now in the current fiscal year.
