AMIN royalty claim

KATHMANDU: The Association of Music Industries Nepal (AMIN) has claimed that there have been moves by some telecom operators to pass on the burden of paying the royalty for the songs that they use for the Ringback Tone (RBT) service to the music producers. In a press statement issued on Wednesday, AMIN has mentioned that there had been an agreement earlier that the telecom operators would pay a royalty of 15 per cent from the initial fees collected from the subscribers of the RBT service to the respective musicians. The association has stated that if the telecom operators try to shift the burden of paying the royalty to the music producers then it could hurt the entire Nepali music industry in the long run. It has urged the telecom operators to pay the royalty as stated in the agreement.
