Bir Hospital gets neurosurgical microscope

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has received an Olympus OME-5243N neurosurgical operating microscope on behalf of the National Neurosurgical Referral Centre (NNRC) at Bir Hospital, donated by a Singaporean national--Angella Cheng Wong with contributions from fellow Nepalis.
Donor Wong handed over the neurosurgical microscope to NNRC in the presence of premier Deuba in a function here on Monday.
Stating that tertiary surgical specialities like brain surgery as very expensive and often unaffordable, PM Deuba extended his gratitude to the donors and NNRC family. He also assured that the donors’ generosity would be satisfactorily met by making the best use of the equipment for the treatment of the deserving poor Nepali people.
Health minister Sharat Singh Bhandari, state minister of health Mohan Bahadur Basnet, hospital chairman Dr D N Gongal, director of hospital Dr ML Shrestha and Professor Dr U P Devkota, chief of Neurosurgery at hospital were also present on the occasion.
