Community forest

DOLAKHA: Three community forest of Dolakha district have been awarded on the basis of their work efficiency, income generation and assisting in poverty alleviation. Thulonagi community forest consumers committee Jiri, Sushpadorani community forest consumers committee, Sushpachhyamawati and Budhidevi community forest users committee Bhirkot have been awarded Rs 5,000 Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000.— RSS

Urge to form strategy

LALITPUR: A meeting concerning formulation of the short and medium term strategy for orthodox tea in the mid and upper hills of Nepal organised by agriculture research centre, Pakhribas, under the Nepal Agriculture Research Council was held here on Wednesday. Participants at the meeting stressed for undertaking research work on tea, identification of various species of tea, and lack of scientific cultivation of tea. 20 persons from the ministry of agriculture and cooperatives, NARC, department of agriculture, hill agriculture research project, tea and coffee development board and Nepal tea planters association took part.—RSS

Aussie jobless rate rises

SYDNEY: Australia’s unemployment rate rose marginally to 5.6 per cent in June from a 23-year-low of 5.5 per cent recorded in May, driven by a sharp fall in the number of part-time jobs. Analysts had expected the jobless figure to remain at 5.5 per cent, the lowest reading since June 1981. — AFP

Air China to fly to Munich

BEIJING: Flag carrier Air China has announced two new routes to Germany‘s third-largest city Munich and the Gulf emirate of Dubai. The Beijing-Munich flight would take off on August 11 and operate three times a week, servicing the 30,000 Chinese who visit the city every year. — AFP

S Korea to maintain rates

SEOUL: South Korea‘s central bank on Thursday held its benchmark call rate target for July unchanged at 3.75 per cent, vowing to keep a policy of low interest rates for an economic recovery. — AFP

Boeing to buy 10 7E7s

SEATTLE: Two air charter carriers, Blue Panorama of Italy and First Choice Airways of the UK, are the first in Europe that plan to buy The Boeing Co’s new 7E7 Dreamliner passenger jets. Blue Panorama plans to order four of the 7E7 jets while First Choice, formerly Air 2000, expects to buy six. — AP
