MoF condoles

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Monday issued a statement expressing its sorrow at the death of the ministry’s employee Kumar Niraula of Inland Revenue Department, Janakpur. An unidentified group shot Niraula dead at 10 am. MoF has condemned the act. — HNS

FHAN stand on wage

KATHMANDU: Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) in a press statement has urged the government to fix minimum labor wage according to the nature of industries. It said though the handicraft industry provides employment to more than 10 lakh people it has small capital investment and uses simple home technology due to which it cannot be compared to large-scale industries and thus needs a different and affordable labour policy as compared to large-scale industries. —HNS

UFIL’s 1st AGM

KATHMANDU: Unique Financial Institution Ltd’s first annual general meeting (AGM) on Saturday has approved of distributing shares worth Rs 40 million this fiscal year. According to a statement, the company aims to increase authorized capital from Rs 100 million to Rs 200 million. During fiscal year 2007-08, it posted a total deposit of Rs 139.7 million and credit flow of Rs 153.8 million. — HNS
