The price of yellow metal increased in the trading week between September 9 and 30. In the domestic market, gold price rose by Rs 1,200 per tola, while silver price remained the same during the review week.
According to the rate list of Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FeNeGoSiDA), gold price was fixed at Rs 91,800 per tola on Sunday and remained unchanged on Monday. On Tuesday, gold price fell to Rs 91,400 a tola before rising to Rs 91,600 per tola on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the price of precious yellow metal increased by Rs 1,200 a tola to Rs 92,800 per tola. The price of gold further increased to Rs 93,000 a tola on Friday.
Similarly, silver was traded at Rs 1,170 per tola on Sunday and decreased by Rs 10 a tola on Monday. Its price decreased further by Rs 10 per tola to Rs 1,150 a tola on Tuesday, as per the FeNeGoSiDA.
The price of the grey metal decreased again on Wednesday by five rupees per tola to Rs 1,145 a tola.
However, it surged by Rs 25 per tola on Thursday to be traded at Rs 1,170 a tola and remained unchanged on Friday.
According to Reuters, gold rose to a one-week high on Friday as the dollar retreated from recent highs but bullion was headed towards its worst quarter since March last year, buckling under fears of impending large interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve.
The physical gold market in neighbouring India flipped to a premium this week as demand improved ahead of festivities, while Chinese premiums stayed elevated.
