Electric hatchback emerges as top-selling model across powertrains
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 16
The BYD Dolphin electric hatchback has crossed the milestone of one million global sales, with Nepal emerging as a strong contributor to the model's success.
According to BYD's authorised distributor Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., more than 2,500 BYD Dolphin vehicles are currently on Nepali roads since the model's launch in September 2023. The Dolphin has become Nepal's number one hatchback across all powertrains, despite a general decline in the segment.
Built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 and powered by the Blade Battery, the Dolphin offers advanced safety, driver-assistance features, and family-oriented design. Cimex said the model has played a key role in accelerating electric vehicle adoption in Nepal.
BYD has already begun testing the next-generation Dolphin, expected to debut globally in 2026.
