Chaudhary felicitated
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Janata Party Nepal lawmaker Chanda Chaudhary was awarded the ‘She the change - Nari Udyami Awards 2019’, in Varanasi, India on the occasion of the 15th Pravasi Divas (Diaspora Day).
According to a press release issued by Chaudhary’s private secretariat, she was jointly conferred the award by Tara Gandhi, granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Baby Rani Maurya and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Indresh Kumar.
Chaudhary was among 27 women leaders, including those from Nepal, India, US, Bahrain, China, Netherlands, Japan, Canada, UK, Kuwait, Ireland, Russia and Brazil who received the award given away jointly by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti B and S Foundation for bringing about changes in their countries. Chaudhary is also the founder chair of Nepal India Women Friendship Society.
Chaudhary said she would work more to make backward women self-reliant. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth were also present on occasion.
