CFPA helps school

KATHMANDU: To commemorate the first anniversary of the earthquake of April 25 last year, the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) successfully held the inaugural ceremony of the earthquake destroyed Shree Yuba Sahabhagita Secondary School, on Sunday. The fund for the reconstruction was provided by Suning Group, a leading Chinese commercial company. In the next two years, CFPA will focus on education and health sectors to help in Nepal’s reconstruction drive, as per a press statement issued on Sunday. It will invest 2.7 million yuan (Rs 43.6 million) for reconstruction of two school buildings of Shree Yuba Sahabhagita Secondary School and Padmodaya Higher Secondary School which were destroyed by the earthquake. Also stationery and psychological counselling support programmes will be provided benefiting about 2000 students. Prevention and control of Hepatitis B and water, sanitation and health promotion programmes will be carried out with an investment of 1.2 million yuan to help about 50,000 people, statement added. As of April 20, CFPA has raised a total of 10.62 million yuan, of which 4.48 million yuan was assigned for emergency relief, 1.96 million yuan for temporary resettlement, and 4.17 million yuan for reconstruction activities.
