KATHMANDU: The yearon-year consumer price inflation (CPI) stood at 8.50 per cent in mid-October compared to 4.24 per cent a year ago, the latest macroeconomic data of central bank unveiled on Wednesday showed.

Food and beverage inflation stood at 8.05 whereas non-food and service inflation was 8.85 per cent in the review month.

The CPI in the Kathmandu valley, Tarai, hills and mountains surged to 6.93 per cent, 9.42 per cent, 8.84 per cent and 7.07 per cent respectively.

Inflation in these regions were 3.48 per cent, 4.01 per cent, 5.68 per cent and 3.12 per cent respectively a year ago.
