DoI orders to stop misuse of trademark

Kathmandu, July 11 :

Department of Industries (DoI) has written a letter to CG Foods (Nepal) Pvt Ltd to stop the use of Mama (trademark) owned by Asian Thai Foods Pvt Ltd for Bhujia as per the Patent, Design and Trade Mark Act 2022 clause 16 (1, 2).

“CG Foods Nepal has no permission to use this trademark in noodles,” DoI has said in a statement issued here today, “The use of Mama trade mark by CG Foods is illegal.”

Asian Thai Foods Pvt Ltd is the authorised company as per the patent, design and trademarks rights to use Mama for Bhujia.

Similarly, the Asian Thai Foods has not given permission to any companies to use its ‘Mama’ word, as per Asian Thai’s statement, Biratnagar.

Asian Thai Foods has claimed that CG Foods has been producing Mama named chicken Bhujia and selling in the market, according to statement.

The DoI has warned CG Noodles (Pvt) Ltd not to use Mama trademark in Bhujia product.

The decision to restrict the CG Noodles to use Mama trademark in Bhujia besides noodles was taken by DoI recently as the fast food products produced by CG Noodles were found in the market, states the DoI letter.
