Kathmandu, April 5

The operators of domestic airlines have reduced the airfare for all sectors from today.

The move follows the direction of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) as the Nepal Oil Corporation slashed the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF).

There is a provision of revising the fuel surcharges based on the price of ATF.

Yog Raj Kandel Sharma, spokesperson for Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), informed that the new airfare has come into effect from today.

The NOC had decided to decrease the price of petroleum products with effect from April 4 and reduced the price of ATF in the domestic sector by Rs 10 per litre.

As per AOAN, the price of air ticket has been reduced in 13 trunk destinations, 40 short takeoff and landing (STOL) destinations and also for mountain flights.

Now, the domestic airlines have reduced the airfares by a minimum of Rs 90 to a maximum of Rs 405 on trunk routes and a minimum of Rs 45 to a maximum of Rs 430 on STOL routes.

The airfare from Kathmandu to Simara has been reduced by Rs 90, which is the lowest reduction, while airfare from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi has been brought down by Rs 440, which is the maximum reduction on the trunk routes.
