Kathmandu, March 19
The Department of Tourism (DoT) has commenced distribution of expedition permits for the upcoming spring season.
According to the department, it has issued expedition permits for spring season to five expedition teams to scale five mountains as of March 16.
Altogether 27 foreign mountaineers, including 16 male and 11 female, have received permission to scale five mountains.
Permits for scaling mountains ranging from 6,000 metres to 8,000 metres have been issued so far, which include Mt Annapurna (8,091 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Pangri Goldumba (6,620 m), Surma-Sarovar (6,523 m) and Thorong Peak ( 6,144 m).
The largest number of permits have been issued for Mt Annapurna, that is for 11 climbers - five male and six female.
As per DoT, six climbers from Korea, three each from UK and USA, two each from China, Norway, Macedonia, and Romania, one each from Austria, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Japan, South Korea and Qatar have received permits for the spring season so far.
Meanwhile, the DoT has collected $29,650 in revenue so far from issuing the spring climbing permits.
